A common theme in the 13-song effort from the you-need-to-know artist is resilience. "Cheers to the Fall is a message to everyone that we need to dive into things that scare and challenge us. When we do so, we may not always have success every time we try; but every time we try and maybe stumble or fall, we get back up and try again, a little smarter and a littler stronger."

The album's crown jewel can be found in "Rise Up" which Andra describes as a song about our relationship to one another. "I look at all of us as brothers and sisters and a body working together. 'Rise Up' is saying one piece isn't better than the other, and when one part is struggling, I'm going to help and lift you up. I will rise up with you."
This universal message in the uplifting song has resonated with listeners and critics from all walks of life. The single was even hand-selected by the team at Beats By Dre to appear in a new campaign that will air during the U.S. Open featuring tennis superstar Serena Williams. The song made its morning TV debut this morning on ABC's Good Morning America.

The San Diego native attended a performing arts high school while working with various producers on developing her musical style. When a tape of a live performance found its way to Stevie Wonder, he was blown away and soon introduced her to producer/writer/musician Adrian Gurvitz of Buskin Records. Day and Gurvitz spent the next year working on her debut album with what she calls a "retro-pop-soul" sound ("a blend of jazz, soul, doo-wop, plus a little bit of rock, and hip-hop on the underbelly"). In 2012, Andra posted a series of covers on YouTube which went viral and landed her a record deal with Warner Bros. Records. Inspired by artists such as Nina Simone, Etta James, Lauren Hill and Janis Joplin, Day's "got Eartha Kitt's unflappable confidence, Amy Winehouse's effortless grasp of classic jazz, Billie Holiday's access to raw emotion and Adele's range and pop sensibility" (NPR). Andra's appeal is her flawless jazz chops that she can apply to her varied melodic influences with equal with the voice and charisma to single-handedly inspire a rebirth of classic soul.
