(Oct. 7th - Los Angeles, CA) — Capitol Records is pleased to announce that it has signed alternative rock band Basic Vacation to its joint venture with Troy Carter’s Atom Factory Music.   The group’s debut self-titled EP will be released on Oct. 15th (track listing below).    The East-Coast based trio — vocalist-guitarist Chris Greatti, bassist Jon Paul, and drummer Mike Montalbano — has already been attracting the attention of the blogosphere with its irresistibly catchy debut single “I Believe,” which was released on September 10th.   The video for the single debuted today on VEVO: http://smarturl.it/IBELIEVEVEVO.

Early praise for Basic Vacation and “I Believe”:

“There’s a new thing called Basic Vacation and we’re pretty sure they’re going to be rather large. Imagine Foster The People in a blender with fun. … and you’ll have an idea of the kind of hook-driven happy ending pop they’re pumping out. … “’I Believe’ is a straight-ahead summertime smash.” — Neon Gold

“With a song like this, Basic Vacation is a band destined to catapult into people’s consciousness sooner rather than later.  … “I Believe” “…will leave you addicted to its fizzy goodness.” — Mostly Junkfood

“Just think of a time when you were with your significant other having a ball with a huge smile on your face. Bottle it in a seashell. Put that seashell to your ear. This is the song you will hear.” — Don’t Need No Melody

“Chris Greatti, Jon Paul and Mike Montalbana have thus far been likened to Foster The People, Fun, Passion Pit and (inexplicably) One Direction.  I would also throw in The Naked And Famous with perhaps, a splash of Cloud Control to get some idea of their catchy calling card ‘I Believe.”   - Idolator

Basic Vacation spent time over the summer touring with Owl City and they made their Los Angeles debut at Neon Gold’s Popshop West in August.   They opened for Third Eye Blind last week at the University of Iowa and begin tour with Australian buzz band Alpine starting this Thursday in Montreal which runs through Oct. 19th.  They’ll then head to the west coast for to play some select dates which include Popscene in San Francisco on Oct. 24th, San Louis Obispo on Oct. 26th and KCRW’s “School Night” at Bardot on Oct. 28th (full schedule below).
