Daniel Zott and Josh Epstein of Dale Earnhardt Jr. Jr. recently took a break from their national tour to talk to NPR on all things The Speed of Things for Weekend Edition this past Sunday. "['If You Didn't See Me (Then You Weren't On The Dancefloor)'] is a song that's really light and upbeat but it also has such a reflective quality in the lyrics." said NPR's Rachel Martin of the album's first single.
Press is digging The Speed of Things...
"The artful Detroit duo shows significant growth beyond 2011's It's a Corporate World, with tighter, more focused songcraft that lets the pair's playful sonics support rather than star in these 13 tracks." - Billboard
"Obsessed! This electro-pop album by two Detroit guys is fab." - Glamour
"Have Dale Earnhardt Jr. Jr. passed one of pop music's biggest tests? Probably. There aren't a lot of low points on The Speed of Things...It takes a few steps forward, undoubtedly, but sticks to the formula - because this formula works." - Under the Radar
"On sophomore LP The Speed of Things, Dale Earnhardt Jr. Jr. takes the Motown influence and '60s pop melodies and ramps up the electronics. The Speed of Things is bigger, more ambitious, and more adult. " -Consequence of Sound
"The Speed of Things" is a worthy sophomore successor, fleshing out the duo's vision of classic pop hooks couched in intricate, synth-heavy arrangements, this time with a nod toward more dance-base rhythms." - Detroit Free Press
"The Speed Of Things is very much an indie-pop record. The end result is a set of 13 ear-exciting grooves that will take a while to get old." - The Aquarian
