Sky Ferreira's debut album Night Time, My Time (Capitol Records) is out today, October 29th exclusively via iTunes. The album will see its wide release next Tuesday November 5. The album was produced in full by Ariel Rechtshaid (Vampire Weekend) and co-produced by Justin Raisen, and executive produced by Ferreira herself.
"Night Time, My Time is not only here, but that it's one of the most pleasingly conventional and cohesive pieces of pop-rock to come along this year....Ferreira now sounds like she has her head held up high instead of glancing down at the floor, bored and ready to leave the party. For someone whose voice often registers at a depressive whisper, she also knows how to look listeners directly in the eye and get them to just listen to her. Finally. She's at the center of her music now, blissfully free of anyone else to blame." Pitchfork 8.1
Ferreira's single "24 Hours" is currently the iTunes "Single Of The Week," available here: iTunes.com/SkyFerreira
Night Time, My Time was a long time in the making, but it's exactly what Sky set out to create. The album stakes out a niche that is entirely Ferreira's own. It's in the neighborhood of the left-field indie pop that has endeared the smart-set to Vampire Weekend's Rechtshaid-produced Modern Vampires of the City. It's on the same block as Robyn, Britney Spears, and Courtney Love - owing debts to all of them, without borrowing too slavishly from any one. And its naked ambition will relegate so-called "lo-fi" pop once and for all to the Early '10s nostalgia bin.
On Ferreira's first full-length album, she delivers artfully buzzing, sometimes droning tunes that play like the soundtrack to a film about millennial nightlife. Her slender vocals, enhanced by Ariel Rechtshaid's raw production, fit the material; you can almost hear her pout. USA Today
Ferreira recently released a video for the track "You're Not The One" which you can watch here:
