Alternative rockers The Tragic Thrills made a huge impact on the charts this week, landing at #7 on Billboard’s Heatseekers chart with their self-titled debut effort. The LP also came in at #189 on the iTunes overall album chart and at #37 on the Alternative chart. The impressive first week follows on the heels of early radio support for the first single “Tears” from LA’s KROQ, and the band’s recently announced stint on 91X San Diego’s Next Big Thing showcase with Basic Vacation on November 17th.

The video for “Tears” can be seen here: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=YkFqRS7Kuz8.

The Tragic Thrills will also perform at the Slidebar in Fullerton, CA this Friday, November 1.

The Tragic Thrills is comprised of seasoned musicians with national and international touring experience, and successful track records with both major and independent labels. In addition to primary songwriter Zach Porter, the band includes Michael Martinez, Brent Schneiders, and Cameron Quiseng. With The Tragic Thrills, the band members break away from their legacies to rally behind the poetic and irreverently romantic songs Porter has crafted. Emboldened by the fresh start, the guys have taken the reins to steer their destiny. They self-funded their self-titled debut, and, enamored with the subtle genius production on Mat Kearney’s Young Love, handpicked producer Jason Lehning.

It’s a bold way to launch a new band, but that move keeps within the vibrant emotionality packed in the group’s moniker. “The name The Tragic Thrills embodies a sense of what I owe.  Not what I owe to anyone, just what it'll take for me to find whatever the hell it is I'm looking for in life,” Porter reveals.

“The whole time I was making the record there was a sense of purpose,” Porter says pensively, thinking back.  “It felt like it was exactly what I should be doing.  That sense of purpose gets me through everything,” he says, pausing. “I can’t wait to play this music live. The more we get out there and prove ourselves the more fulfilling this will be. “

Praise for The Tragic Thrills:

"This [is] one a really amazing album... I was welcomed by this overtly positive sound that could pass for either a Grouplove tour companion or The Summer Set’s older brother." - http://goldenmixtape.com/2013/10/28/the-tragic-thrills-the-tragic-thrills

"Stemming from a sound that is reminiscent of Mumford & Sons early days mixed with a little bit of Fun. and a quality unique to them, vocalist Zach Porter uses seemingly nude lyrics that bare exactly how he feels...This is only the beginning of what musical genius we will hear from The Tragic Thrills." - http://umusicians.com/post/65054700427/um-review-the-tragic-thrills-the-tragic-thrills

"I got the email with the album download, clicked on it just for shits and more shits expecting to hate it and delete it immediately, and it ended up being exactly what I needed to pick me up this afternoon.  I'd like to call it 'I feel like shit so I don't want to listen to loud punk rock so I'll listen to this instead' music. It's soothing my sickness with each catchy riff and happy-go-lucky vocals." - http://musicshebloggedtoronto.blogspot.ca/2013/10/the-tragic-thrills-fighting-my-tragic.html

“While the band is technically fresh on the scene, one would never know when taking into account their cohesiveness as a group and catchy melodies on every song.” - http://thearradar.com/the-tragic-thrills
