It's been a good couple years for the relentlessly hard working six piece rock band from Durham, NC. Their debut album, Carry The Fire, came out last summer and ever since, they've taken the live show on the road, making new fans at every turn. Along the way, they've been championed by VH1, who selected them for their "You Oughta Know" Artist Of The Month program. In the past year, they've performed not once, but twice on both The Tonight Show w/Jay Leno and Conan, an unheard of accomplishment for a new band. NPR's "All Things Considered" featured them, as did Time, and they were picked for the Forbes 30 Under 30 issue amongst names like Lady Gaga and Drake. Delta Rae were also hand selected by Rolling Stone as an "Artist To Watch" for their Women Who Rock campaign.
Live is where Delta Rae truly flourish. The band has been selling out headlining gigs across the country, from their hometown of Durham, NC to NYC, San Francisco and Los Angeles. They've opened for everyone from heroes like Lyle Lovett to First Lady Michelle Obama during a Democratic rally at UNC Chapel Hill and played pretty much every festival under the sun in 2013, including Bonnaroo, Austin City Limits and Voodoo.
"If Fleetwood Mac came up in North Carolina, they might resemble Delta Rae." - Rolling Stone
"In theory, Delta Rae's music is Americana folk rock. In practice, it's a bit more complicated: bluesy and soulful, sometimes gentle and melodic, sometimes aggressive and visceral -and always rich with textured four-part harmonies. From howling gospel-inspired choruses to mellow bluegrass-tinged guitar riffs, everything's fair game." - Band To Watch, Time Magazine
"The six-piece from Durham, North Carolina has been one of our favorite bands to emerge this year, thanks in large part to their incredible ability to harmonize. On songs like "Bottom Of The River" and "Is Anyone Out There," the vocal harmonizing between the Hölljes siblings (Ian, Eric and Brittany) and Elizabeth Hopkins reaches a level of transcendence rarely heard in music these days." -VH1
