SEAN MICHEL

PHILADELPHIA - American Idol Alumni Sean Michel is pumped up and excited about coming to Philadelphia for a dynamic performance at Gospel Rama #18 on Saturday, September 28 at the city's Love Park.

"We are gonna be bringin' some truth, soul, and rock 'n' roll, so get ready!" said Michel.  The AI Season 6 alumnus is just back from a European tour supporting his latest release, "Electric Delta.."

"Expect a lot of energy...we're gonna punch 'em in the face with fists of love," he cautioned. "We're gonna get down in their soul and make their booty shake!"

Born in New Orleans and raised in the suburbs of Little Rock, Michel was already a touring musician when he decided to try out for American Idol on a whim in 2006. Michel gained popularity on the show with his gritty, gospel-based, bluesy style, and gained instant notoriety for his then-unusual long, unruly beard.

"My image wasn't really consistent with what they go for on American Idol," he explained. "I think the producers wanted to make it work - I had a good rapport with all of them. But it just wasn't a fit and I wasn't cutting my beard for them. But since Season 6, beards have become trendier. It might be different now. But it doesn't matter - I learned a lot about the business from my experience on AI and it helped me be more professional. It also opened a lot of doors, so I'm grateful for that time."

The Gospel Rama was founded by Drs. Joses and Chantal St. Phard, Pastors of the Word In Action International Ministries, Inc. in September 1995. The vision is to evangelize the entire city of Philadelphia and the Community at large by gathering together one day a year via Gospel Rama.

Gospel Rama #18 will begin at 11 a.m. and end at 6 p.m. Gospel Rama is a free, rain or shine event.

Other artists scheduled to perform: The Messenger, David Latham & The Strangers, Waiting For The Flood, Scott Karge, Red Baron, and Virtuous.
