Read early rave reviews for Elle King’s “Ex’s & Oh’s”:

“Tomorrow’s Hits…Mix Duffy's vocals, the Black Keys' urgent rhythms and a hook and tempo that recalls P!nk's "So What," and you have Elle King's catchy and clever RCA debut, "Ex's & Oh's."

“Raspy and Catchy”

“the gutsy singer's brand-new single “Ex’s & Oh’s” …(her) unflinchingly honest songs and signature raspy voice that seems custom-made to convey heartbreak, but also by her free-spirited personality. (It's clear she'd be a lot of fun to hang out with.) … Elle’s a rising rockabilly star who knows how to jam on a banjo.”

“Total bad-ass …Elle’s music is a little bit country and a whole lotta rock & roll, and soul, and blues. Imagine a hybrid of Amy Winehouse, Etta James and Adele. Yes, she’s that good. Elle’s debut album will be out early next year, but you can hear her magnificent new single Ex’s & Oh’s right now!”

“Ex's and Oh's …super clever. The word spitfire is oft overused, but when it comes to Elle King it is so appropriate! Her voice is so special and raw! Her music rawks with a throwback feel. She's like a modern-day Janis Joplin! And that's not something we would say lightly! Elle King is the real deal! A true talent! BIG talent!”

“Elle King presents “Ex’s & Oh’s,” her most defining and ambitious release to date. Her smoky retro sound will draw you into another realm and deliver the soundtrack while you’re there. Her voice compliments her smoky, shimmering glare, her eyes so knowingly staring into you and providing a compelling, scintillating performance. And it’s okay to admit what gritty thoughts stir, because she not only gets it, she’s written a song about it.”

“Elle King, the man eatin’, shit talkin’ spitfire of your dreams…or nightmares. (Boys: You’ve been warned.)…the raspy blues rocker… ‘Ex’s & Oh’s’ is good music…Backed by a twangy stomp, the track is loaded with sassy zingers (“They always wanna come, but they never wanna leave”), powerful Janis Joplin-like chops and howling hooks that ought to appeal to any true lover of pop music. It’s ballsy, brash and profoundly #unapologetic, like if Meghan Trainor got a serious R-rated kick in the (b)ass— or banjo, as it were….stomping, hollering and strumming…Her voice is insanely powerful — and she just happens to be hilarious, too. (I’m always a sucker for good between-song banter!)”

“Elle King’s got the kind of forceful vocals and fast-picking deftness on the banjo that force a listener to sit up and take notice...“Ex’s & Oh’s” …includes a healthy dose of King’s usual wit set to an catchy, strong beat. “

“You will be hearing a lot more about Elle King in the coming months.”
