Based on NYC but originally from New Orleans The Pests (Steve Halprin -vocals/guitar, Chuck Diesel - bass/vocals, Mazz-1 – drums) come out swinging, delivering a flurry of pummeling rhythms, clench-fisted chords and meaty hookswith the release of their self-produced new album A Damn Fine Mixture, mastered by Scott Hull {Rage Against the Machine, Beastie Boys) today on the bands own 60 Grit label.

Inspired by the first generation punk A Damn Fine Mixture is 13 true punk rock songs.  Mixing old school punk with rock n roll and melody The Pests have created an album filled with originality, fun and meaning. The follow-up to their 2014 release of the 7" single Disturbance in the Gulf.

With their first release Simplified the band saw some early success and with it radio play and television appearance but it also brought unexpected set-backs. As the buzz grew in came the offers from record labels and industry insiders who made offers, demanded changes and ultimately made more than their fair share of broken promises. The band was re-named, a new album was rushed and industry executives tried to claim credits for songs that he had absolutely no part of. Chuck was so soured over the events that he temporary quit, thinking he was ready to give up music forever.

Steve and Mazz-1 decided to keep going, but without Chuck. They recorded only one album and called it Up For Anything. It was done completely DIY in Mazz-1’s garage, and despite the raw and seemingly sub-standard quality, it spawned the contagious song "I've Got a Feeling" which began to get a lot of play on local radio and lead to sold-out club dates on the band’s hometown of New Orleans. Having a new found motivation, Chuck re-joined and the band got to work. "Rockabilly is Ruining my Life" was released on 7" vinyl followed by "We Reserve the Right to be Impolite."

Now with their DIY roots firmly planted the band is road ready and revitalized.  Despite the popular saying, punk rock is still very much alive and kicking in 2014.
