Oakland's, The Matches are set to begin their 10 Year Anniversary run of shows to commemorate the release of their debut album E. Von Dahl Killed The Locals this Wednesday, November 5th with a recently announced warm up show in Oakland at Leo's Music Club.

The Matches formed in 2001 and released 3 albums on Epitaph Records between 2004 and 2009, when they announced their break up prior to their final sold out show at The Fillmore in San Francisco.

E. Von Dahl Killed The Locals was first released independently and when the band signed to Epitaph, they made a 10-year licensing agreement that reverted to the band in 2014, which the band celebrated with a limited-edition vinyl re-release that included a new track listing and new mixes.

Although the band originally planned to just release a limited edition vinyl, the band also decided to add a one-off reunion show to celebrate with their fans.

This reunion show was slated for November 8. 2014. Tickets went on sale on May 18th, 2014 and sold out in 3 minutes. The Matches then added a 2nd show that also sold out in 3 minutes. From there, a total of five more shows were added in San Francisco, Los Angeles, New York and Chicago. All the shows sold out months prior to the upcoming dates.

On June 26th, 2014, The Matches made 500 limited and numbered copies of E. Von Dahl Killed The Locals on vinyl for sale in their online Web store. All 500 sold out in one hour. A second pressing of 500 has been released and only limited copies remain.

The Matches, who made a name for themselves through their music, lyrics, live show and DIY ethics returned for this run back to their roots of how they started: on their own. The marketing and announcements were done through their social media and with a little help from some old friends in the media who supported them. The band booked the shows, pressed the vinyl, and distributed it independently. The power of the band’s rabid and dedicated fan base was a surprise to all involved and is a true testament to who they are and what they mean to each other.

In preparation to the lead up to the shows, The Matches have been releasing "Behind The Song" documentary-style stories about the songs that were written and recorded on E. Von Dahl Killed The Locals. These great stories can be found here: https://www.youtube.com/user/thoseoldmatches

The production team behind the “Behind The Song” videos, recently put up a Kickstarter to raise money to produce an independent documentary about the rise, break-up and return of The Matches. The Kickstarter campaign can be found here: https://www.kickstarter.com/projects/chelseachrister/bleeding-audio-a-doc-about-the-matches-and-the-mus

In addition, The Matches created new merchandise to accompany their reunion shows. The band will have different designs for each coast. In addition, each show will have limited, numbered posters to commemorate each show designed by band members Shawn Harrisand Justin San Souci.
