(December 5, 2014) – True to their legendary status, iconic soul and funk group Kool & the Gang set social media abuzz following their televised acceptance of the Legend Award at the Soul Train Awards 2014 on Sunday, November 30 as #koolandthegang became a worldwide trend on Twitter during the broadcast on BET and Centric.

Following the band’s acceptance of the award, where they thanked their fans for the continued support throughout the years, Missy Elliott, Lil Kim and Da Brat hit the stage to honor the band with their Kool & the Gang sampled track “Not Tonight” which also included a video homage to the late Lisa “Left Eye” Lopes for her verse.

Fans can see the band help usher in the holiday season with their holiday album Kool For The Holidays and an appearance on the Hollywood Christmas Parade, airing December 10 on the Hallmark Channel and December 19 on the Hallmark Movie Channel. The parade will also be broadcast to more than 1 million servicemen and women through the American Forces Network. Kool For The Holidays features the critically acclaimed jam “Home for the Holidays” along with 13 other classic Christmas songs such as “Little Drummer Boy,” “Joy To The World” and “Have Yourself A Merry Little Christmas” – all with the group’s signature soul and funk sound.  The album is available now at www.koolandthegang.com.
