Dan Layus of Augustana comments, “I couldn't be happier than to be joining up with Washington Square, I'm looking forward to being a part of this record label and excited to be able to share this music with our fans."
Augustana is the latest signing to the newly created label Washington Square, an imprint formed by Razor & Tie. The band joins label mates The Hold Steady, the UK rock band Deaf Havana and the New York based indie rockers Born Cages.
Washington Square/Razor & Tie Co-Owner Cliff Chenfeld adds, “Dan Layus is an amazing talent who has created a powerful album with songs that reflect his depth, musicality and vision. We are thrilled that he has decided to work with us to get his music out to as wide an audience as possible.”
Formed while in High School in 2002, Augustana is led by front man Dan Layus. To date the band has released three full length albums on Epic Records - All The Stars And Boulevards (2005), Can’t Love, Can’t Hurt (2008) and Augustana (2011). Augustana has sold combined over a half a million albums and over 2.5 million singles in the U.S. The band has had three Top 10 songs at AAA Radio (“Boston,” “Sweet & Low” and “I Still Ain’t Over You”) and “Boston” was #1 song at Hot AC (Adult Top 40) and hit the top 25 at Mainstream Top 40. They have performed multiple times on The Tonight Show as well as Late Night with David Letterman. Augustana has previously toured with The Counting Crows, One Republic, Snow Patrol, OAR, The Fray, and many others as well as headlined tours worldwide.
Augustana is managed by Rich Egan and Ryan Quigley at Hard 8 Management and booked by Marty Diamond at Paradigm.
