New Haven, CT – (March 13, 2014) – For the five members of Mile Marker Zero today marks a very special day with the announcement of their forthcoming release. The Connecticut- based prog-rock quintet led by vocalist Dave Alley, John Tuohy (guitars), Mark Focarile (keyboards), Tim Rykoski (bass) and Doug Alley (drums) will release Young Rust, a six song EP on April 29th.

Young Rust, the group’s first release since their acclaimed self-titled debut released in 2009, will contain a total of six new songs. Michael Birnbaum and Chris Bittner of Applehead Studios located in Woodstock, NY, who to their credit have collectively engineered, mixed and produced recordings for Bad Brains, Coheed And Cambria, jazz keyboardist and composer John Medeski, Rich Robinson of The Black Crowes, are on board to mix the EP with overall production duties being handled by the band and Vic Steffens (Lita Ford, XYZ, Doug Wimbish of Living Colour).

"This EP showcases our growth, not only as a band, but as song writers," says keyboardist Mark Focarile.  "Sonically, the production really captures our live energy and channelling our experiences the past few years allowed us to identify what we wanted to say as a band, while evolving musically. We're a young group thats been through a lot, but that experience has matured us as artists, and keeps pushing us forward."

Stream the Richard Mouser (Transatlantic, Spock’s Beard, Corrosion of Conformity) mix of “Where I Want You” exclusively at PureGrainAudio.com.

Focarile adds, "'Where I Want You' is a song about falsely going along with the thoughts and temptations of seeking the limelight, but using it in an effort to play the system and bring the audience closer to your true vision."

Young Rust will be made available for purchase via iTunes, Amazon, Google Play, and Spotify on April 29th.

Young Rust track list:
  1. Where I Want You

More on Mile Marker Zero: From the moment the band formed in 2003, the quintet has taken a slightly off-kilter, multi-tiered approach towards rock music that bordered on duality. Their songs are epic and ambitious, filled with unconventional arrangements and challenging rhythms yet they also flow with powerful melodies and memorable choruses.

MMZ songs ''A Thousand Nights'' and ''Reaping Tide'' were both featured on the popular music video game Rockband developed by Harmonix Music Systems for the Xbox 360 and Playstation 3 game consoles.

To date, the band has shared the stage with the likes of Mike Portnoy (Dream Theater, Adrenaline Mob, The Winery Dogs), Geoff Tate (Queensrÿche), Porcupine Tree, Periphery, The Disco Biscuits, Spock’s Beard, and Scale the Summit to name a few.
