March 25, 2014 — New York, NY — Acclaimed Norwegian singer-songwriter Thomas Dybdahl will make his Strange Cargo/Manhattan Records debut with What’s Left Is Forever, scheduled for U.S. release on May 6. Produced by four-time GRAMMY® winner Larry Klein, What’s Left Is Forever debuted at No. 1 on the Norwegian album chart last fall and the first single, “This Love Is Here To Stay,” climbed to No. 2 on the radio airplay chart there.

“This Love Is Here To Stay” was used to striking effect in the March 23^rd episode of Showtime’s “House of Lies” in one of the most anticipated scenes in the hit series’ three-year run. The song also appears on the recently released House of Liessoundtrack, which was released earlier this month. Dybdahl’s “1 Mic 1 Take” music video for “This Love Is Here To Stay,” shot live in Capitol Records’ historic Studio A, premiered during Showtime’s House Of Lies marathon on March 1 and can be seen now on VEVO:  http://www.vevo.com/watch/GBUV71400243

Dybdahl’s distinctive voice and bewitching songs of love and loss have already earned him praise in the UK, with the NME declaring him as “Norway’s answer to Nick Drake” and Q Magazine hailing Dybdahl as “one of the most talented singer-songwriters.”  Currently on tour in Europe, Thomas will celebrate the stateside release of What’s Left Is Forever with a series of Los Angeles appearances, performing at Chris Douridas’s School Night! at Bardot on May 5 and settling into Hotel Cafe for a month long, Wednesday night residency (May 7, 14, 21 and 28).  A NYC date on April 21 at The Standard is confirmed as well.

Recorded in Los Angeles and Norway, What’s Left Is Forever features a remarkable supporting cast of musicians – including drummer Jay Bellerose (Bob Dylan, Primal Scream), keyboardist Jamie Muhoberac (The Rolling Stones, My Chemical Romance) and strings provided by Vince Mendoza (Joni Mitchell, Björk). The collection swings from the almost ethereal to the more upbeat – soundscapes for a new generation, underpinned with seemingly effortless prowess. “But We Did” slowly spiders out from a pensive strum into a soft, shuffling lover’s pact. “Man On A Wire,” a sinuous meditation on the emotional attachments we make as we advance through life, comes in with all breathy vocals before surging into an up-tempo chorus that aligns itself with the likes of The Blue Nile and Bon Iver and “Soulsister” evolves from a simple instrumental beginning into one of the stunning highlights of the album.
