Chicago non-profit,  Hope for the Day are pleased to announce their SUMMER OF HOPE campaign that will appear on this summers' Vans Warped Tour. Hope For the Day is a non-profit that uses music and arts platforms for suicide awareness and prevention. The SUMMER OF HOPE campaign is about pressing the conversation on suicide and mental health, raising awareness, providing education and resources. The rate of self-harm continues to rise, creating devastating impacts to communities across the country (and globe) and silence is prevention’s biggest obstacle. Hope For The Day are hitting the road this summer to spread awareness and break this silence.

On this years' Vans Warped Tour, Hope For The Day are collaborating with Davey from Vanna, Garret from The Color Morale, Telle from The Word Alive, State Champs, PVRIS and Beartooth  to establish stigma free spaces to share stories of struggle, recovery and hope. Attendees will be able to participate in an unorthodox experience that they can carry forward among their friends and communities.

The goal in prevention is to achieve an environment free of shame, fear, or judgment to enable those suffering in silence to reach out for support. It is possible to establish communities where a suffering mind can know they’ll always have options. The Summer of Hope campaign is about direct engagement and strives to demonstrate these open environments.

Hope For The Day has started an indiegogo campaign to raise funds to cover travel expenses on the road, to secure the licensed mental health consultants who will be on the entire tour for a professional presence in each location as well as the costs for our education and awareness materials. It is with our deepest gratitude to Vanna, The Color Morale, PVRIS, The Word Alive, State Champs, Beartooth, Alternative Press and Warped Tour that we are able to offer such loaded perks for contributing to this movement.

The Summer of Hope is intended to be a catalyst to initiate an irreversible momentum shattering the silence around suicide, bringing this issue fully into the light without apology. Mental health is a personal issue but it is benefitted by community support.

Making a donation and spreading the word on this funding initiative are ways you join us in accomplishing our funding goal. Any contribution you make will help launch the Summer of Hope and giving voice for the far too many trapped within the walls of silence.

Current Hope For The Day Projects:

The BEATKEEPERS Project: The BEATKEEPERS project is our on the ground creative education program focusing on empowerment through musical and artistic expression. Based on expressive therapy concepts, this project targets 12-21 year-old-high-risk adolescents from low-income areas suffering from mental illness. BEATKEEPERS inspires these individuals to confront suicide, community issues and oppression through lyric composition and beat making. Lyrical self-expression serves as a vehicle for these youth to connect to their environment and build a stronger self-identity. This initiative has run four successful 6-week pilots at Thresholds and currently (2014) operates in The McCormick Boys & Girls Club of Chicago.

Music Saved My Life Project: An ongoing PSA-style video series featuring internationally recognized musicians and artists sharing personal stories, frank discussion, anddirect confrontation of struggles with suicide, depression and mental illness. They are designed to instill a shame free atmosphere encouraging open dialogue and expression of personal/mental struggles. HFTD partners with Alternative Press Magazine to release each Music Saved My Life segment through their online platforms, amplified by participating artists own media avenues. Over the last year, we have produced over 30 Music Saved My Life segments.

‘_____’ (Blank) Gives Me Hope Campaign: Working with teen volunteers from across the US and as far abroad as Belgium, we are building content for a visual collage series of teens voicing the positivity they find in themselves in a reverse of the traditional ‘sad statement’ visual galleries. Intended for Spring-Summer 2014.

The Hope Defined Project: A feature length film about suicide and prevention made by teens for teens currently in development in Naperville, IL.
