About Diet: It all began in 2009 when Tommy and George started a band together as a bassist and drummer struggling to find a guitarist before the idea went on hiatus for 2 years. In the summer of 2011, Tommy and George started writing pop punk songs before the plan for Diet bloomed in the beginning of 2012. Throughout the year, bassist Dario Simontacchi joined the band and George went off to college. During George’s winter break, the collective changed to an angrier style of music. Eventually, there was a mutual departure of Dario Simontacchi from Diet in January 2013. The bassist position was quickly filled by eager bassist Michal Pando.
After the release of their first single, “Knee Brace,” in March 2013 and the hype set in, Diet set out to record their debut EP during the summer of 2013. Diet brought loyal friend Chris Taranto to aid in backup vocals and ended up playing the lead guitar intro on track two of the self-titled EP. Chris loved the direction of Diet’s genre so much that it was clear he belonged in the band as lead guitarist. The EP was released in August of 2013 and Diet continued to gain fans and followers, before Michal Pando chose college over music and parted from Diet. Before long, Fernando Hernandez joined Diet on bass permanently, just in time to begin writing new material. The band released a single in January of 2014, entitled “I Can’t Sit Still”, to refuel the hype created by the release of the self-titled EP. Currently, the band is in the middle of recording their second official EP, entitled Palindrome, to be released this summer on Imminence Records.
