(FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE)  - Larry “Fuzzy” Knight, bandleader of theBlowin’ Smoke Rhythm & Blues Band, is pleased to announce the addition of a new member to the Blowin’ Smoke lineup..  Blowin’  Smoke welcomes keyboardist-extraordinaire, Don Preston,  former original member of Frank Zappa’s Mothers of Invention and co-founder of the “GrandMothers”, of which he recorded a total of thirty-plus albums.

Preston has recorded with John Lennon, Peter Erskine w/ John Patitucci & Airto, John Carter, Yoko Ono, Gil Evans, Captain Beefheart & His Magic Band, Carla Bley,  Flo & Eddie, and The Doors' Robby Krieger just to name a few.  He has performed with artists including Lou Rawls, Al Jarreau, Herbie Mann, Elvin Jones, Paul & Carla Bley, Howard Kaylan & Mark Volman (Flo & Eddie), Don Ellis, John Lennon & Yoko Ono, and more.

Don is adept in rock, blues, r&b and jazz.  He has  scored the music for twenty-three feature films, including “ Apocalypse Now”; and nineteen stage plays, garnering five awards. He has performed with the Los Angeles Philharmonic and twice with the London Philharmonic Orchestra.

Preston will also be writing original songs, and orchestrating charts for the horn section of Blowin’ Smoke as the band will be going into the studio this year to record a new album.  This is going to be an exciting year for Blowin’ Smoke, as they will be celebrating their 20th Anniversary as a group.
