October Sky is thrilled to premiere their new 'Rise' EP this week via PopMatters who says "combining the force of similar UK duo Royal Blood with the progressive tendencies of Muse, the new tunes are sleek and visceral, and well worth hearing." The Canadian duo will also set out on their US tour this week beginning in Asbury Park, NJ on October 7th. 'Rise' is out October 9th and is currently available for pre-order on iTunes.

Originating from Montreal, Canada, October Sky has been playing music together for over a decade. The Canadian band consists of Karl Raymond (vocals & guitars), Alex Racine (drums). Their musical output includes four albums (2 EP and 2 LP), five music videos, several international tours, and a host of sold-out live performances.

Back in September 2008, October Sky released their first full-length album “Hell Isn’t My Home,” which garnered them instant success. The album features 10 tracks which alternate between melodic rock and ambient alternative. The LP earned them three awards for best provincial rock song, rock CD, and rock music video. Two music videos soon followed, one of which was in rotation on MUCH Loud and in the Top 5 on Musique Plus. During this time, the band also performed live on national TV for CTV’s Telethon of Stars and was interviewed on Musique Plus.

Since this time, October Sky has not looked back. They followed their debut LP release with a national tour which touched down in 15 Canadian cities from Montreal to Vancouver. Their music often brings them on the road and they have also performed alongside such well-established artists and Alexisonfire, Mobile, Bad Religion, and Michel Pagliaro. As national winners of the Global Battle of the Bands, October Sky represented Canada in London, England in April 2010 at The Scala.

After releasing a second full-length album ‘’The Aphotic Season’’ on June 18, 2012, October Sky has stretched their musical muscles in Europe with their first foreign tours in France, Belgium and United Kingdom. The media coverage they regularly receive on air and on paper is a testament to their mounting status as serious musicians. Because of their success in Europe, the band decided to move in London, UK for 6 months. They applied and received a Tier 5 (Youth Mobility) visa from the government of United Kingdom. With that visa, they were able to play show all across England, playing festivals such as Cadence Festival, Whalley Festival and The Great Escape Festival.

In March 2013, October Sky decided to go on tour across Canada and France in order to promote the new album ‘’The Aphotic Season’’. They played 41 shows between March and November, playing cities they had never played before such as Banff, Hamilton, Red Deer, Kamloops in Canada and Nice, Montpellier, Toulouse, Lille in France.

October Sky spent 2014 in studio writing and recording songs with producer ‘’Paul Milner’’. They wrote more than 15 new songs and chose the best seven ones to put on an EP called ‘’Rise’’. That 7 track album will be released in North America and Europe in October 2015 followed by a tour across the United States.

On April 15th 2014, October Sky received a grant from MuchFACT, a division of Bell Media Inc. to produce a music video for their radio single ‘’Fall Back Down’’. The official video was released on January 6th 2015. TV music station Much in Toronto presented the video for several weeks.

Since the band’s inception, October Sky have been reaching forward, both musically and professionally. Their singles bring together the best in alternative music, with songs so engaging you would think you had heard them already. Their live performances feature a mesmerizing, harmonic fusion of music, voices, lights, and video effects. October Sky has now over 200 live performances to their name and their singles have been in rotation on international radio stations such as NME Radio and CHOM.
