Rhyme + Reason announces its breakout CMJ Showcase at Pianos (158 Ludlow St., NYC) from 12pm – 7pm on Tuesday, October 13th, featuring Golden Bloom, Holiday Mountain, The Suffers, Catey Shaw, Kid In The Attic, Fiction Plane and Say Girl Say.

The newly founded Rhyme + Reason Records' free CMJ day party will showcase some of the labels breakthrough artists – and that’s not an exaggeration. "Rhyme + Reason Records is proud to represent some exceptional artists whose music we can't wait to share with the world," says label founder and CEO Emmy Black.

Featured artist The Suffers count David Letterman among their fans, with the former Late Show host declaring, "If you can’t do this, get out of the business!" The ten-piece band from Houston, TX have acquired a devoted and fervent following with their innovative Gulf Coast Soul. A following that just funded their $50,000 Kickstarter campaign in support of their self-titled album, scheduled for release in early 2016.

London's Fiction Plane will perform songs from Mondo Lumina (meaning 'world of light'), the band's fourth studio album and first U.S. release in over eight years, out November 13th on Rhyme + Reason Records. Composed of lead vocalist, guitar and bass player Joe Sumner (son of The Police frontman Sting); guitarist Seton Daunt; and American drummer Pete Wilhoit, Fiction Plane will reveal their most vivid song craft and most accomplished musicianship to date on the Pianos stage. From touring with Snoop Dogg, to playingGlastonbury Festival, these boys have done and seen it all. With a new outlook on the world, Fiction Plane now return to the spotlight to debut their seductive, atmospheric sound.

Multi-instrumentalist Golden Bloom will wow crowds with his skilled multi-tasking. 2011's March To The Drums EP gained the attention of SPIN, Magnet, and Daytrotter. Golden Bloom's evolution continues as he prepares to release a new record in early 2016.

Brooklyn's Kid In The Attic released their debut EP, Que Lastima, over the summer. Their bedroom sounds are heaven sent. In the words of Brokelyn.com, "God bless Kid in the Attic."

Also on the CMJ day party roster are Say Girl Say (Houston), Holiday Mountain (Austin) and Catey Shaw(Virginia). Insider tip: expect a riotous dose of girl power from these infectious female-fronted bands.

About Rhyme + Reason Records: Rhyme + Reason Records is an alternative to the traditional label, evolving with the changing marketplace so artists can focus on what they’re good at: making music.

Founded by Emmy Black in 2015, Rhyme + Reason counts among its roster: The Suffers, Golden Bloom, Fiction Plane, Mr. Flannery and His Feelings, Miss Velvet and Kid In The Attic.

Rhyme + Reason Records (RARR) founder Emmy Black has established a reputation for musical vision, innovative thinking and street-level savvy. Prior to founding RARR, Black cut her teeth at the legendary Hoboken indie-label Bar/None where she spent five years doing everything from A&R to label management, most notably signing grass-roots successes The Front Bottoms and Emperor X.

During a subsequent stint in Austin, TX in 2013, Black expanded her resume by serving as label manager for Playing in Traffic Records (Los Lonely Boys) and The Noise Company (Ben Kweller). Returning to New York City in 2014, Black served as Manager of Client Relations for The Orchard. In early 2015, she created Rhyme + Reason, a forward-thinking record label designed to function within the realities of an evolving marketplace.
