NEWS: Hit the Road with Emily Kopp in her New Music Video for "Chasing Streetlights"
ORLANDO, FL | November 11, 2015 -We've heard of them all - the road warriors, the modern troubadours, the struggling musicians, the vagabonds. Indie soul-rocker Emily Kopp is just that to the next level, embracing her wanderlusty spirit and translating it to music and adventure. Her newest music video for "Chasing Streetlights," the lead track from her upcoming EP Making Sense Of (out 12/4/15) details this story in Emily's hands-on DIY fashion, self-produced from several years of behind-the-scenes footage from the road with her band, telling their story through their own eyes. Today, Kopp has partnered with After Ellen for the exclusive premiere of "Chasing Streetlights." Here is what Emily Kopp had to say about the video: "This song tells a story. After several years travelling as a musician, I realized I had accumulated hours and hours of video footage. Mostly, footage that had gone unreleased. There it was. So, for the video, rather than showcase the song alongside a made-up, scripted, cinematic, storyline...why not just tell our story? I decided to pull from everything. From early shows, and days of touring in my Scion to playing in front of sold out crowds. Not a lot of people get to see the "in between" moments that those who share the sometimes claustrophobic space of a tour van experience. More than anything - those tend to be the special moments I remember most. The laughter, camaraderie, frequent discomfort, and mostly, not-so-glamorous moments. "Chasing Streetlights" is the debut single from Kopp's upcoming EP release Making Sense Of, which releases on 12/4/15. The EP is a combination of honest storytelling lyrics, married to a seamless blend of groove oriented soul, pop smarts, rock edge, and enough sass to make you shudder. Following the release of Making Sense Of, Kopp will be embarking on a world backpacking trip with her girlfriend. The chef + musician duo plan to explore all things culinary, music, art, and adventure, beginning in Auckland, NZ. More About Emily Kopp: With music dubbed a marriage between "bluesy heartache vocals and pop songwriting smarts" (The Advocate), Emily Kopp works in the grassroots-esque style of countless artists who she most admires. Kopp's musical beginnings started at a young age and continued throughout college in Orlando, FL where she studied at The University of Central Florida. She earned herself an internship at local music venue, working in the office by day, and providing hospitality for National touring artists by night. Much of her tenacity and knowledge about the music industry developed while cutting her teeth behind the scenes. However, it didn't take long before Kopp was in the forefront herself.
Kopp has shared stages with Matchbox 20, Brandi Carlile, Michelle Branch, Parachute, Boyce Avenue, The Gin Blossoms, Marc Cohn, ZZ Ward, Phillip Phillips, among others. She began touring the Southeast during her Junior year of college, and by graduation in December 2013, Kopp had laid herself a foundation to work in music full time. Since releasing her debut full length album Serendipity Find Me in October 2013 to much praise, Kopp has stayed very busy touring the U.S., writing music for film/tv, and even had the honor of presenting at the TEDxGreenville conference in April 2015. With a versatile live show, Kopp's grit, strong sense of soul, lyrical knowhow, and pop sensibility never fail to connect to an audience.
