In the past month, SECRET WEAPONS signed to Epic Records as “Something New” blasted to #1 on Hype Machine and went Top 5 on Spotify’s U.S. and Global Viral Chart—quickly closing in on 1-million streams. With its shimmering synths, handclaps, and massive chant, the track immediately invites a singalong, and audiences have embraced it. Billboard pegged them among “Tomorrow’s Hits” in a piece aptly titled “Weapons Aim and Score,” while Spotify included “Something New” on its coveted New Music Friday playlist. Nate Ruess of Fun. fell in love with the song online and invited them to open a handful of shows on his current solo tour, while they supported A Great Big World’s recent sold out New York date.

The story of SECRET WEAPONS’ signing to Epic Records is nothing short of unbelievable. The pair—Gerry Lange and Dan Rocco—had stirred up a palpable buzz throughout New York City with packed local shows. However, at the same time, Dan worked at Epic as a lawyer. His days were spent behind the scenes, while he took the stage at nights. “Something New” started to take off on Spotify, and caught the attention of Epic Records Chairman & C.E.O., LA Reid. Now, Dan signed a contract with Epic instead of writing one…

“Something New” impacts radio in early 2016, and SECRET WEAPONS is currently working on their full-length debut.
