While in the studio working on her forthcoming EP, Markley and her producer, Chase Manhattan of the Washington Alt/Pop band Night Argent, teamed up to create a beautifully raw and haunting cover of the heartbreaking track that's inspired by breaking up, moving on, and being the better person in a fallout. The emotionally driven song showcases Markley's delicate tone and enchanting voice, highlighting the feeling of loss that Joy Williams' wished to captivate with the track. Here is what Amanda Markley had to say about her decision to cover "What A Good Woman Does": "I chose this song to cover because I could really connect to the lyrics. I had just gone through a breakup and the words inspire me to stay strong and move forward through heartbreak. I want to pass that inspiration on, and hope this rendition does the same for others as well." - Amanda Markley
Amanda Markley's songwriting career began after a spinal injury that caused her to pull back from her passion of horseback riding. Amanda learned to cope by writing her emotions, an inspiration for her new passion in music and the lyrics of her first songs. Now able to ride again, Markley strives to inspire and give others courage to follow their own dreams. The singer often plays rich and emotionally raw acoustic sets that are a staple of her home-state's local coffeehouse vibe. When not performing in an intimate setting, Amanda rocks the stage with a full band and is a regular performer at the Hard Rock Cafe, El Corazon, Chop Suey, and other iconic music houses in the Seattle area, sharing the stage with artists such as Aaron Carter, Tyler Ward, William Beckett, and more. Markley is currently in the studio with Chase Manhattan to collaborate on and produce her upcoming EP at Rainmaker Studios. The first single from the EP, "Jealousy" was released in 2015 in a partnership with Cadence & Cause, sending all proceeds of single downloads to the charitable cause of rescuing homeless animals and finding them homes. Manhattan produced a music video for "Jealousy" which premiered exclusively with PopWrapped. The EP is set to release early 2016 with a slew of new tracks, videos, and more on the way.
