The "instantly appealing rock & roll stew" (Big Takeover) from riotous rockers PURPLE's debut album (409) operates as half skate-punk and half party-anthems. Out on Play It Again Sam, NPR's All Songs Considered "swooned and rocked" to the "loud-and-proud Texas punk party", adding they "would follow them to the end of the earth." http://www.npr.org/blogs/allsongs/2015/02/03/383242879/new-mix-toro-y-moi-courtney-barnett-pops-staples-more

This comes shortly after Entertainment Weekly's video premiere of "DMT", saying Purple "raises a middle finger to society with such a contagiously obnoxious glee that you can easily forget you're not in high school anymore." The video catches the trio performing alone in the desert as vocalist/drummer Hanna Brewer tans in a kiddy-pool with a beer before dissolving into trippy, hyper color headbang they call "a psychedelic smack to the face". http://www.ew.com/article/2015/02/02/texan-grunge-punks-purple-trip-out-their-video-dmt

Led by Hanna's bratty puckishness and the frenetic and muscular rhythm section of bassist Joe "Prankster" Cannariato and guitarist Taylor Busby, Purple pounds out the songs from (409) like Joan Jett fronting the Misfits, earning them praise as "the best new band in the world" from Kerrang! and garnering attention from Bust andBitch magazines. The disjointed and herky jerky power chords of "Thirteen" mesh perfectly with Hannah's attention-commanding screech and howl, forming the beauty of Purple: the tequila-chugging punk intermingling with gritty, snickering self-aware pop. It's punk music for those who just can't let go of hummable melodies, or pop music for the office worker covered in tattoos.

Purple is Hanna Brewer (drums / vocals), Taylor Busby (guitar) and Joe Cannariato (bass). (409) came out on January 27, 2015 on Play It Again Sam / America.
