Born Cages recently concluded a US tour with co-headliners Dreamers and special guests The Kickback. The band will head out this summer for the entire 2015 Vans Warped Tour (dates below).
“I Just Want the Truth, Baby” is a glimpse into the band’s forthcoming debut album, which was produced by Jon Kaplan and lead singer Vlad Holiday. On the album, Born Cages conjure festival-ready, truly modernist modern rock that is every bit as grand as its song titles would predict: “Bigger Than Me.” “Don’t Look Back.” “Finding Beauty in a Broken World.” I’m Glad I’m Not Me blends genres effortlessly, touching on rock, electronic, dance, and alternative. It’s a record that celebrates music’s ability to bring people together despite their usual perceptions. The album embraces its punchy hooks, economic arranging and distinct kind of New York City disillusionment; it’s the despondency of being told your mere existence in the city is a sign of having “made it” and still feeling alone amongst the millions.
Lead singer and guitarist Vlad Holiday formed Born Cages in 2011 and the group dove head-first into New York City’s unique indie rock movement. He is joined by Dave Tantao on drums and Matt Maroulakos on bass. The band has received nods from the likes of Rolling Stone, MTV.com, and Vice Noisey and they have shared bills with a bevy of acts such as Har Mar Superstar, Gold Fields, Said The Whale and Royal Teeth. They were even handpicked by Guns N’ Roses to be the sole support band on two sold out GN’R club shows.
Yahoo Music recently raved , “Born Cages is a group that definitely knows how to bring the rock.” The band’s video for the song “Rolling Down The Hill” won mtvU's The Freshmen competition and the song has charted Top 10 at Alternative Specialty radio, impacting Alternative Radio in May. A remix of the song reached #2 on Hype Machine’s popular remix chart.
