(June 11, 2015) – Hailed as a must-see summer event by both Rolling Stone and Entertainment Weekly, GRAMMY-nominated, multi-platinum selling band Fall Out Boy kicked off their Boys of Zummer tour with Wiz Khalifa last night in Camden, NJ at the Susquehanna Bank Center to thousands of fans and critical praise. The DCD2 Records/Island Records artists played a 90-minute set featuring songs from their hit album American Beauty/American Psycho as well as favorites from previous records.
“The cross-pollination of the two genres worked,” Billboard raved of the tour’s double bill, commenting that Fall Out Boy “came out with all guns blazing… and owning the audience from the second they launched into their opener.”
The Star-Ledger agreed, calling Fall Out Boy and Wiz Khalifa a “dynamic pair” and continuing that “the show itself was a masterful display of each act’s unique artistry” and that Fall Out Boy’s performance of their current “hit-single ‘Uma Thurman’ ignited a dance-party in the pit and reminded the audience why FOB is still dominating the charts.”
Continuing to expand the boundaries of live performance, fans in the back were given an unexpected thrill when the band took an underground tunnel to the venue’s lawn and played an acoustic set consisting of “Immortals” and “Young Volcanoes.”
Fall Out Boy’s custom wardrobe kits for the tour were created exclusively for the band by Lot, Stock and Barrel with an overarching concept of creating an elevated and thought-provoking wardrobe kit that was both functional and engaging. All artwork features lyrics and symbology associated with American Beauty/American Psycho. The collection features three unique vintage-inspired graphic t-shirts hand printed on LS&B vintage over-dyed t-shirts as well as Made in The USA denim vests, four pocket utility shirts and black lightweight bomber jackets specially produced by Feltraiger from New York City. The band premiered some of the items during their performance of “Uma Thurman” on Late Night with Seth Meyers on June 8.
Fans can catch Fall Out Boy performing on The Today Show’s summer concert series tomorrow morning on NBC before the tour’s next stop in Holmdel, NJ on June 13 at the PNC Bank Arts Center.
The Boys of Zummer tour will continue through 35+ cities across North America including Chicago, Toronto, Nashville, St. Louis, Atlanta, Dallas and Las Vegas before concluding at Los Angeles’ famed Hollywood Bowl on Aug. 10. The show also features sets by DJ Drama and openers Hoodie Allen and DCD2 Records labelmate MAX performing his hit single, “Gibberish,” among other songs. Full details can be found at www.falloutboy.com/tour.
American Beauty/American Psycho, which debuted at #1 on the Billboard Top 200 upon its January 20, 2015 release on Island Records & DCD2 Records, is Fall Out Boy’s sixth studio album. The album also features the triple-platinum single “Centuries.”
Hailing from Chicago, Grammy-nominated Fall Out Boy — Patrick Stump (vocals/guitar), Pete Wentz (bass), Joe Trohman (guitar) and Andy Hurley (drums)—has appeared on the cover of Rolling Stone and other prestigious publications. They have performed on Saturday Night Live, The Today Show, America’s Got Talent, The Voice, Late Night with Jimmy Fallon, The Tonight Show with Jay Leno, Conan, The Late Show with David Letterman, Jimmy Kimmel Live and many more.
