While Melinda has joined the Boston Pops for multiple performances, this marks her first performance during their annual July 4th tradition. “I absolutely love The Boston Pops. Every performance I’ve had with them has been a highlight and an honor for me, but it has been a dream of mine to join them for their Fireworks Spectacular!” said Doolittle. “I could not be more excited!”

"There are few concerts that I’ve conducted that come close to the thrill of leading the Boston Pops Fireworks Spectacular…” said Boston Pops Conductor Keith Lockhart. “Though this will be my 20th Fireworks Spectacular, it remains absolutely inspiring to see and hear the crowd’s terrific response to our great Pops traditions as well as to the many extraordinarily talented guest artists who grace the Esplanade stage each year—this year including Melinda Doolittle."

Live webcast of the Boston Pops Fireworks Spectacular will be available to a national and international online audience starting at 8 P.M. at www.bostonpopsjuly4th.org and www.cbsboston.com.

About Melinda Doolittle: Melinda Doolittle became a household name on season six of American Idol. Tone deaf as a child, Melinda’s choir teacher would plead with her not to sing, but just silently move her mouth. Undaunted, her love of singing drove her to enter a talent show in the seventh grade where she stunned the audience with her miraculously spot on vocals and beautiful voice. She never looked back! In 2007 Melinda entered arguably the largest talent show in the world, American Idol, where she instantly became a crowd and judges favorite.

Doolittle continues to thrill audiences everywhere from the Rock and Rock Hall of Fame to The White House, from the Copa Room to Carnegie Hall. In addition, she has been an honored guest with the Boston Pops, Charlotte Symphony and United States Air Force Orchestra to name just a few. She is currently headlining her own soulful show It Must Be Love.
