With his groundbreaking Worlds live show and a series of triumphant headline festival appearances under his belt – including Coachella, Mysteryland (NY), Splendour In The Grass (Australia), and Ultra (South Korea) – Porter Robinson has re-established his dominance as a festival headliner, this time as a live artist.
Tonight he returns to the U.S. for his second wave of North American festival dates including HARD, Outside Lands, Life Is Beautiful, North Coast Music Fest, TomorrowWorld, and more. A full list of dates – including upcoming appearances at Sonicmania (Japan), Pukkelpop (Belgium), and Reading and Leeds Festivals in the UK – can be found below.
The visionary electronic music producer had already headlined all the major festivals (Coachella, Lollapalooza, Bonnaroo, etc) as a superstar DJ before his 20th birthday. But he grew tired of producing dance music and performing as a DJ. He desired to use his platform to present something more meaningful, so he returned home to North Carolina and hunkered down in his childhood bedroom to write his debut full-length album. Drawing inspiration from the emotional epics of anime and the vast digital landscapes of video games, Porter emerged with Worlds.
A deeply personal journey through textural synth-pop, Worlds shook the electronic music community to its core and expanded the definition of the genre upon its release. With more than 26 million album streams under his belt, plus 100,000+ in ticket sales for live headline performances; Porter’s fans have stood by him.
It has, at turns, been called “gorgeous” (New York Times), “delightful” (Rolling Stone), and “imaginative” (NPR). “Worlds is not simply the debut album of an EDM prodigy, but a prodigy’s attempt at a personal corrective to the genre,” heralded Fader and Spin proclaimed“Porter Robinson invents shoegaze-EDM on dazzling Worlds.”
For his live show, Porter – now 23 – aimed to recreate the sense of escapism and evocative imagery that inspired the album.
Designed in collaboration with music technologist and artist Laura Escudé aka Alluxe (Kanye, Jay Z, Yeah Yeah Yeahs, Drake) with visuals crafted by ILN (Invisible Light Network) and edited by video artist Ghostdad, the show brings his fully realized vision to life. Robinson performs the new live show using interactive MIDI controllers, drum triggers, and synths. The Worlds Live show is a hyperreal, video-game fueled dream come-to-life with Porter at the helm.
