(New York, NY) – Shawn Mendes may only be 16 years old, but the teen sensation has solidified his place in the industry with a number one album debut and a spot on Taylor Swift’s 1989 Tour.  The multifaceted star is now spreading his talents to the acting world with an exciting new role.  As announced this morning, Shawn will make his acting debut in The CW’s hit post-apocalyptic drama, ‘The 100,’ guest-starring in the series’ highly-anticipated season 3 premiere.

While ‘The 100’ will be Shawn’s official acting debut, the singer-songwriter recently showcased his skills for the screen in the dramatic music video for his hit single, ‘Stitches’ (Seen HERE).  "I'm so excited to take a step into acting,” says Shawn. “It's something I've wanted to do for a long time, and can't wait for everyone to see my first role in ‘The 100’."

Based on the best-selling Young Adult series by author Kass Morgan, ‘The 100’ was developed by Jason Rothenberg and stars Eliza Taylor, Paige Turco and Thomas McDonnell.  Shawn took to Twitter to show his love for the television series, directly asking its writers if he could play a part in one of his favorite shows.  Fortunately for the social media star, executive producer Jason Rothenberg heard his request and immediately tailored a role for Shawn after hearing he was a fan and seeing first-hand his acting talent.
