Atlantic Records has announced the release of firekid’s debut album.  The Nashville-based singer/guitarist’s self-titled “firekid” arrives everywhere on September 25th.

The musical brainchild of Dillon Hodges, firekid has fast earned applause for his transcendent fusion of country, indie, folk, bluegrass, and Southern rock. The Alabama-born Hodges proved a prodigy upon first picking up the guitar, winning the National Flat Pick Guitar Championship as a 17-year old high school senior – the second youngest person to ever win the prestigious competition. He relocated to Nashville after college, determined to broaden the scope of his sound from bluegrass to beyond.

With Hodges’ soulful vocals and virtuoso guitar playing attracting widespread attention, firekid joined the historic Atlantic Records roster and set to work on his eponymous debut album. Teaming with producer/songwriter Sam Hollander (The Fray, Train), firekid returned home to his native Alabama’s famed Muscle Shoals and crafted a truly striking collection of contemporary roots pop, booming with songcraft, sonic invention, and Hodges’ incendiary musicianship. Official audio for album highlights “Die For Alabama” and “Magic Mountain” can be heard now at firekid’s official YouTube channel, and a third track, “Movin’ On,” premiered today via Paste and is available for streaming here: https://soundcloud.com/firekidmusic/movin-on/s-wQjpF.

An electrifying live act who recently lit up audiences on tour with Leon Bridges and at his home state’s Hangout Music Festival, firekid is set to spend the fall traveling the US with dates including headline shows and tours alongside Moon Taxi and The Bright Light Social Hour. The trek begins September 10th at New York City’s Irving Plaza and then continues through October (see attached itinerary).
