SICK OF SARAH hit the road this week in support of their recent release ANTHEM. Founding vocalist Abisha Uhl and drummer Jessica Forsythe will introduce three new band members on this run which include Ari Applewhite (guitar / vocals), Jack Swagger (guitar / vocals) and AJ Stone (bass). Uhl offers, "I'm looking forward to the future with a rock solid group of talented musicians. Each one has something new to bring to the project. We've teamed up with an amazing non-profit organization called The Torn Labels Project, an advocacy campaign to promote anti-hate and anti-bullying through knowledge, music and art. We're excited to introduce our new line up on our TLP Tour, and they can't wait to meet each of you!"
It's been a winding road for Uhl and Forsythe as they worked through line-up changes, parting with a record label, financial instability, and other challenges, but they have come through the other side stronger through these adversities. With clear artistic vision, and a tight, punchy six song EP they aim to regain the momentum that has established the band's strong fan base thus far. Forsythe reveals, "Moving forward, we want our fans to know that they are priority number one along with our commitment to make a difference through our music." Uhl adds, "I would like people to be excited when they hear our name, also I hope that our music inspires people to dream big. I want people to think of strength and confidence. I want them to internalize our lyrics and relate to them. I want people to pull strength out of our music and to help improve their lives. I want people to enjoy our music and have fun with life."
As they pull out of the driveway, the two band members collectively offer, "We can't wait to see all of you. Our Friends, family, fans and to reach new fans as we truck across the US! We hope you'll join us for a special evening to support a great cause and hear never before performed songs from our catalog. We'll be around after each show to hang out and talk more about what's to come as we grow into this new chapter. We love you!"
SPIN Magazine wrote, "The women who make up this Minnesota quartet bow at the alter of riot grrls' days gone by while simultaneously thumbing their noses at scowling chick-rock clichés. The songs are as bracing as they are familiar...For Fans of: The Breeders, Sleater-Kinney."
