Los Angeles based trio, The Dead Ships share the video for “Tomorrows Crashes” off EP I and announce a string of dates with The Mynabirds, including an appearance at the Los Angeles stop of Culture Collide.

The closing song off EP I, “Tomorrows Crashes” is The Dead Ships’ homage to the come down song, chronicling those dark moments after a really long bender and what lead singer, Devlin McCluskey claims is like, “waking up surrounded by still-drunk-strangers with all the color gone from their faces and you just want to run because something bad happened and something worse is coming.”

Directed by McCluskey, the video, which premiered on Yahoo! Music yesterday, further explores the themes of the song, weaving a live performance piece (shot at Rainn Wilson’s Soul Pancake Studios) with iPhone footage shot on a whim in the Light Tunnel of Chicago’s O’Hare Airport, creating a dizzying image of neon lights, lip syncing, dancing and running away.

The first of two EPs produced by Broken Social Scene’s Brendan Canning and mixed by Alex Newport (Death Cab for Cutie, Bloc Party), EP I is a six song primer in the band’s patent mix of garage rock blended with unique power pop elements and has Entertainment Weekly noting, “sounds like the Strokes if they’d reinvented themselves as a folk punk band.”

Comprised of McCluskey (guitar), Christopher Spindelilus (drums) and Alex Moore (bass), The Dead Ships have spent the past four years developing a following with the self-release of their debut, Electric Ahab, garnering accolades from the likes of the LA Times, MTV Buzzbands LA and sharing the stage with Sea Wolf, The Soft Pack and a run of shows with Two Gallants.

Touted as one of the “Best Live Bands in LA,” The Dead Ships continue to tour in support of EP I, including two dates with The Mynabirds in San Francisco and Los Angeles. Download EP I here.
