The Word Alive has debuted at #1 on the iTunes Metal Chart with their hard-hitting new single "Trapped". One of their most impressive tracks to date, the single fully kicks off the campaign for their new album Dark Matter, set for release on March 18th.

"If you know what it's like to feel confined to your vices, or someone who is, you'll feel the intensity of 'Trapped'," explains lead vocalist Telle Smith. "Whether your fix is drugs, alcohol, sex, or psychological insecurities, we all have something that can hold us back. 'Trapped' is about that feeling and trying to crawl out of the hole that can be our heads."

Pre-orders of Dark Matter will include an instant download of "Trapped", now available on iTunes and TheWordAlive.com for the physical edition.

One of Alternative Press Magazine's Most Anticipated Albums of 2016, Dark Matter is the band's fourth full-length and the follow up to 2013's REAL, which debuted at #4 on the Billboard Top Hard Rock Albums Chart. Produced by Matt Good (From First To Last), The Word Alive amplify every aspect of their signature sound. The lyrics are more personal, the melodies are more engaging, and the songs are bigger. Telle Smith explains, "Dark Matter is the result of our most in-depth writing and recording session we've done, and is something we consider to be our most dynamic and expansive album to date. This record completely defines and expresses who we are, and where we are going, taking the listener to the darkest and most honest places our band has dared to venture."

THE WORD ALIVE - Telle Smith (vocals), Zack Hansen (guitar), Tony Pizzuti (guitar), Daniel Shapiro (bass), Luke Holland (drums) - The Phoenix heavy alternative quintet began transmitting their message in 2009. 2010's full-length Deceiver solidified them as a fan favorite as they tirelessly toured alongside the likes of Killswitch Engage, The Devil Wears Prada, A Day To Remember, Motionless In White, and more - in addition to numerous stints on the Vans Warped Tour. Alternative Press and Revolver have sung their praises, Modern Drummer has featured Luke for his work in the band and mega-popular YouTube covers, Guitar World has spotlighted the interplay between Tony and Zack and their twin attack, and the band has graced the cover of Outburn Magazine. Everything paved the way for The Word Alive's biggest, boldest, and bravest statement in Dark Matter.
