Industrial/garage rock quintet Sunndrug will be releasing their debut album Exit Wounds on 10/31, but today they have partnered with The Huffington Post to share the full stream early. The dark and blues-tinged alt-rock offering will be released on Mind Over Matter Records.

"The title 'Exit Wounds' was partially inspired by JFK conspiracy readings Chris Raines (drummer) and I have done," says vocalist Jimmy Reeves. "Chris suggested it and I liked how the ambiguity of what exactly happened and who did what will always kind of be a mystery. It works well in the context of a relationship ending."

Reeves and Raines first began playing together in Spitfire, a late 90's hardcore band (Raines later went on to drum for the metalcore group Norma Jean). "The album is autobiographical and it chronicles the end of a 10 year relationship," says Reeves. "It was a cathartic experience and one I didn't feel like I could get around writing about. Working with Chris again was the catalyst to bringing the record and band to life." The lineup is filled out with Matt Beck, Junior Favela, and Clint Kesler.

Exit Wounds was mixed by Jeremy Simeon Howell Griffith and mastered by Andreas Magnusson. Digital pre-orders are available now on iTunes and include an instant download the album's first two singles "Denial" and "Shining.." Limited edition vinyl and merch bundles are available at mindovermatterrecords.com.

About Sunndrug:

No matter how far we wander, we always return home. For Jimmy Reeves and Chris Raines, this is true in the sense of not only their geography but also their musical partnership.

Exit Wounds began as a song-writing outlet for Reeves as he worked his way through a crumbling relationship of over 10 years and his former bandmate was yearning for a new musical venture after his hiatus from the road. The two continued to construct a narrative of a man coming apart at the seams as he attempts to get a fix on a reality that is nothing more than sand in his fist. During this time, Reeves made his way back to Virginia Beach.

The duo completed the song writing and then enlisted a seasoned crew of musicians to help them take these songs to the stage and Sunndrug was officially born.

Their debut record touches on themes of self-loathing and self-idolatry - that voice in your head that whispers to you that no one knows better than you do. Besides, you’re numb. Keep going, no matter the cost.

Exit Wounds is dark not only in its subject matter, but also in its tone and instrumentation. By seamlessly integrating electronics into the ebbing and flowing crashes, parts of this debut LP almost feel industrial, but not without a thick layer of melody floating on top of it. This is the sound of despair. This is the sound of thinking you’ve got it all figured out when nothing is as it seems.
