About Purple Ferdinand: Hailing from East London, 28-year-old Purple Ferdinand channels inspirations such as Eva Cassidy, Patsy Cline, Johnny Cash and Stevie Wonder, among others, to create music that is both emotional and emotive. She first emerged after playing the AfroPunk festival in Brooklyn in 2012, and since has played AfroPunk London, been featured by various press outlets such as, The FADER, Pigeons & Planes, Solange’s Saint Heron and more.  She has also released two EPs, Dragonfly and Lovebound. Accompanied by the ukelele, she stands out where other female artists blend together. Her music does not merely tell stories, it explains Purple’s growth into a calm and approachable woman – explaining her relationships with the people around her and describing her change throughout her twenties. Ferdinand is gearing up to release her forthcoming EP, which feels homegrown and full of passion, pulling influence from the people she surrounds herself with and utilizing the phrases they say and their perspectives on emotions.
