Florence, Kentucky | November 18, 2016 - Hailing from Florence, Kentucky, post-hardcore band Softspoken is comprised of Logan Combs, Chris Wethington, Billy Zimpelman, Garrett Harper, and Zach Payne. The quintet, who just inked a deal with We Are Triumphant, are thrilled to unveil details of their brand new debut EP entitled, Pathways, produced by Cameron Mizell at Chango Studios. The EP combines an eclectic mix of energized rock and ambient post-metal while dynamically blending both aggressive rhythms and soft grooves punctuated with a soaring and emotional range of vocals to produce a refreshing counterbalance of established sounds. The band expanded, "We use different time signatures, and primarily sing over heavier parts where screaming is the norm." The 5-song EP is slated for release on March 17th and discusses challenges that many individuals face including addiction and mental illness. As mentioned by the band: "We want our music to be thought and emotion provoking and therapeutic. We're doing this music as a form of healing for ourselves and we also think and hope that people out there listening to it can find a similar source of vitality from it as well."

Today the band is thrilled to partner with HM Magazine to unveil the debut single off the forthcoming record. The inspiration for "Wanderer" came at a time when the band was traveling from their hometown to Arizona where they recorded the EP. The place where they stayed during the recording had a lot of homeless roaming around. The band, feeling a bit like outsiders, in a new place for the first time, the band realized that most individuals are transplants from other places. They observed the individuals around them, even without knowing their life stories, but understanding that something in their lives caused them to move, and to end up in the same place they were. The song is really a look at those that were struggling around them, that no matter good or bad everyone is in the middle of their journeys, everyone is a wanderer. The band expands on this concept: Wanderer, is really about putting yourself in someone else's shoes who's struggling to meet their needs; who's fighting or running from a problem; who's struggled and given up, or been given up on, etc. and trying to see the world from their eyes and see that we're all people and we're all connected.

More about Softspoken: What was originally just a personal project for Wethington while living in Japan, Softspoken turned into a full-fledged band once he made the decision to return to the US in December of 2015. By the end of January, the band was fully formed and writing. They recorded their first single with Zach Sebastian at Third Eye Studios in Cincinnati, OH, and released it as their debut on March 25th. Shortly thereafter they traveled to Lancaster, PA to perform at LAUNCH Music Festival & Conference, and then again hit the road to Phoenix, AZ where they recorded their upcoming EP.
