Discussing their choice of song, the band offered the following: Alan Sparhawk invited us to play their upcoming Christmas show and figured it'd be neat to cover this song, which just so happened to be lyrically relevant to what we endured last winter as a band, as well as fellow Minnesotans. Much love to BJ Burton and Alan for the collaboration. Merry Christmas. Happy Holidays.

Recorded by BJ Burton (Bon Iver, Sylvan Esso) at Sonic Ranch, landmark retains the same relentless energy and impeccable musicianship that animated 2015’s Bashful Creatures and South EPs, but finds the band searching for a more mature approach to songwriting touching upon topics such as the complexities of seemingly simple relationships, politicized web presences and glorified suffering. The record marks a true coming of age for the band. A strong grasp remains on their classic songwriting capabilities, another is held for experimentation and sonic discovery.

Since a series of successful SXSW shows in 2015 which led to an appearance on CONAN, Hippo Campus has maintained a tireless touring schedule, opening for acts such as Modest Mouse, Walk the Moon and Real Estate and playing several festival including Lollapalooza, Reading & Leeds and more. They recently announced a national headlining tour that kicks off February 15 in Fargo, ND. Fans unable to catch them on this run can peep this stunning performance of their latest single “monsoon,” shot live at the Landmark Center in St. Paul, MN. Full list of dates below or click HERE.
