CLEVELAND (Feb. 1, 2016) – 2x Grammy-nominated artist Elle King visited the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame on Friday, Jan. 29, 2016, prior to a performance at Cleveland’s Masonic Auditorium. The “Ex’s & Oh’s” singer made the special trip to see her dress, now on display inside the Museum’s “Right Here, Right Now” exhibit.
The red kimono style dress was worn by King during at Sonic Sessions concert at the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame on June 5, 2015. Additionally, King participated in a meet and greet with lucky contest winners in conjunction with the Grog Shop, the evening’s concert promoter.
“I’m really overwhelmed right now,” said King. “I’ve come here since I was a little girl, and I played here over the summer, and me and my band got super choked up. And just walking around and seeing how the Rock Hall keeps rock ‘n’ roll alive, to see my own dress is kind of mind-blowing, and I’m super choked up over it. It’s really cool.”
“Right Here, Right Now” takes a look at the evolution of rock and roll and its impact on the next generation of artists by taking visitors on an intimate journey into the stories of chart-topping acts as told through their personal items and clothing from iconic performances. The exhibit features thought-provoking text panels and interactive displays where visitors can see and hear how these contemporary artists have made an impact during the new millennium. The evolving exhibit features the Black Keys, Bruno Mars, Fall Out Boy, Lady Gaga, Katy Perry, Machine Gun Kelly, Rihanna and many more!
In addition to the dress’ unveiling, the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame debuted a display showcasing 2012 Rock and Roll Hall of Fame Inductees the Beastie Boys. On display are the handwritten lyrics to “She’s On It,” “Brass Monkey,” and an early draft to “No Sleep Till Brooklyn,” in addition to the tour itinerary to Madonna’s 1985 ‘The Virgin Tour’ featuring the Beastie Boys as the opener, clothing from the “Intergalatic” music video, and a gold chain worn by Mike D.
