NEW YORK, NY (February 22, 2016) – Puff Daddy returns to his New York roots with the music video for ‘Auction,” from Puff Daddy & the Family ft. Lil’ Kim, Styles P and King Los, which premiered today on Complex.  With its pared-down set and monochromatic visuals, the video, directed by Hype Williams, is all about the music as each Bad Boy collaborator takes center stage and brings the Harlem anthem to life.

The video brings together Bad Boy legends and newcomers alike, as Lil’ Kim, Styles P and King Los join Puff Daddy to dance along to what the mogul calls his “New Harlem Renaissance” sound.  “Working with Puff again after all of these years, it’s like we never left,” says Lil’ Kim of the reunion.  “It’s so easy to get back into a groove because we really know each other.  We understand each other creatively, and we respect each other’s creative mind.  And we also admire each other’s talent.  I look up to him.  That’s why we come out with magic.”  Watch the full ‘Auction’ music video featuring Lil’ Kim, Styles P and King Los here.

“I wanted to work with somebody that could help embody things that you can hear and see visually,” Puff says about Hype Williams, the ‘Auction’ video director and frequent collaborator.  The track itself is a sonic embodiment of what Puff describes as, “that New York feel, that grittiness, that thing, that soul that really identifies us as Bad Boy artists.  That’s where I’m from, that’s what I represent, that’s the truth of my music.”

The November release of MMM was met with overwhelming critical praise from outlets like Billboard, Entertainment Weekly, XXL and The FADER.  Rolling Stone declared, “Puff takes it back to hard beats and smooth vibes on a strong mixtape” and called Puff  “a consummate professional,” and MMM an “all-star mixtape exploring the rap mogul’s Harlem roots.” Complex noted that “Puff Daddy is re-energized. He is the only person who can lead sessions with intense demands of perfection that seem fun as S**T too.”  Pitchfork agreed, adding that, “He still commands attention from hip-hop heads and the casual music fan alike,” and writing that his “fountain-of-youth charm… is the appeal of Puff Daddy right there – the personable opportunist that recalls American, Gatsby-ian myths of self-made success.”
