Says Jack, "Really couldn't be more thrilled to announce year 2 of Shadow Of The City. I grew up hanging around on the seaside boardwalk and to put the festival there this year is completely far out. Also, proud to expand it beyond something that I headline every year. With that said, it's always something I want to be involved in so getting steel train back together for one show felt perfect. The idea behind SOTC is to bring a music festival to the shadow of the city - a place filled with music fans who have to travel to the bigger city to see a lot of live music 'cause their town gets skipped over. Year two gives me such joy because it makes me feel like we are really going to keep doing this."
The 1975 will headline the festival, which will include an exciting and diverse group of performers including Carly Rae Jepsen, BØRNS, Bishop, FRNKIERO AND THE CELLABRATION, Shamir, and HANA.
Antonoff’s first band, Steel Train, will reunite for a very special performance at “Shadow Of The City”. Steel Train was a hugely influential and critically acclaimed New Jersey based indie rock band consisting of Jack Antonoff (vocals, guitar), Evan Winiker (bass), Daniel Silbert (guitar), Jon Shiffman (drums, percussion) and Justin Huey (vocals, piano). Over the course of the band’s career, they released three full-length albums along with a companion album entitled Terrible Thrills Vol. 1, which features female artists covering each of the 12 tracks on the Steel Train album.
3-time GRAMMY® Award-winning musician Jack Antonoff is currently in the studio working on highly anticipated follow up album to Bleachers critically acclaimed debut album Strange Desire which came out in 2014. Antonoff’s music career started to take shape in 2002 as the lead singer of the New Jersey born indie rock band Steel Train; he later gained notoriety as the lead guitarist for the GRAMMY®Award-winning band fun. Bleachers dominated the television airwaves in support of Strange Desire with performances and appearances on NBC’s Late Night With Seth Meyers, Late Night Starring Jimmy Fallon, ABC’s Jimmy Kimmel Live, TBS’s Conan, CBS’s The Late Show with David Letterman, The Late Late Show with James Corden, and The Ellen DeGeneres Show. The band also had numerous MTV and VH1 performances and appearances including hosting last year’s MTVu Woodie Awards at SXSW. Bleachers’ eccentric and critically praised rollout campaign has featured announcements via Craigslist, a Bleachers Hotline, artwork revealed by anonymous countrywide cake deliveries, a surprise public access television telethon called "Thank You Very Much", a series with Bill Nye The Science Guy, and the Streamy Award nominated and CLIO awarded original docu-series “Thank You and Sorry”, which features Jack as he navigates the bizarre world of touring and life on the road with Bleachers. Additionally, in late 2015 Bleachers released a “Terrible Thrills” Vol. 2, an all female reimagining of their debut album Strange Desire.
In addition to being a multi-talented musician, Antonoff is a critically acclaimed songwriter and producer. Antonoff collaborated with Taylor Swift co-writing and producing her chart topping hit “Out of the Woods” along with two other tracks from her No. 1 album “1989”, which also won the 2016 GRAMMY® Award for Album Of The Year. He also received a 2014 Golden Globe® nomination for his collaboration with Swift on her hit song "Sweeter Than Fiction." Jack has worked with Sara Bareilles, co-writing her Grammy® nominated hit "Brave,” Canadian Indie icons Tegan and Sara and more. Jack also curated and founded the “Shadow of the City” music festival which took place in Asbury Park, New Jersey in its first year on September 19, 2015.
