First teased on Valentino Khan’s HARD DOTD Mixtape, “Pop It Off” arrives on the heels of YDG’s massive collaboration with Fawks, “Hold Up.” Last month on his BBC Radio 1 show, Pete Tong bestowed on the young producers the honor of naming the track his Essential New Tune – an insane look for the newly minted duo. This catapulted YDG to the spotlight and gave the boys a proper platform to showcase their multifaceted production style, which blends hard-hitting beats with melodic soundscapes to seamless effect. The song builds off the success from their Shawn Wasabi and YUNG GEMMY collaboration “Burnt Rice,” which quickly went viral and has so far racked 2.5 million plays on YouTube.

Ookay’s now been running the trap game for a few years, after boasting early co-signs from some of the industries most well respected – Diplo, Steve Aoki, A-Trak, Borgore and Showtek, among others. His Dim Mak debut single “Egg Drop Soup” first showcased the producer’s undeniable talent, becoming an instant sensation and surpassing half a million SoundCloud plays. Fast forward to his most recent dancehall monster with the legendary Ragga Twins, “The Boot,” which copped the #5 spot on Beatport’s Hip Hop chart, attesting to the notion that his pace is far from wavering. In addition to his original hits, Ookay is churning out remixes (“Hotline Bling”, “Lean On”, “Runaway (U & I)”) that are setting the Internet on fire. Catch him on the road this spring, as he joins Datsik on the Spring Loaded Tour.
