Today the sisters Sierra and Bianca Casady start their European tour around Poland, France, Germany, Spain and more after. For the occasion they release the "Tim & Tina" live in BTR's Backyard taped in Austin, TX during SXSW. Today the song is available on their soundcloud HERE and it will be release on 5/18.
Last year’s release of Heartache City and a North American tour, and Bianca's solo album Bianca Casady & The C.I.A Oscar Hocks, Bianca and Sierra Casady will go back to the European shores for shows France, Germany, Poland, Spain, Czech Republic and Belgium.
Sierra and Bianca a currently working on a single that will lead them into their next body of songs with themes such as colonialism, exotification, addiction and the exploitation of women. After striping back with the last album and going analog-acoustic again, they now take it even further and attempt to record without using any electricity...in the tropics. This spring we may here some of the new material as they continue to support Heartache City with a west US and European tour. This spring will also kick off their third collaboration with Robert Wilson after two successful productions together, Peter in 2014 and Pushkin's Fairy Tales in 2015.
Their "Lost Girls" music video was shared via NPR's First Watch HERE. Directed by Sepia and shot in Buenos Aires, the song and video shows solidarity for the everyday perils women encounter. You can hear a "a savory, yet slanted, sonic stew" live WNYC Soundcheck session HERE.
FADER shared the entire Heartache City exclusively and called it "a welcome return to what made them great in the first place."Order available digitally and on green vinyl which includes 1 extra song here http://www.cocorosiemusic.com
"This is our sixth record! Like many of our past records, we wrote and gathered much of the material at our farm studio in the south of France with minimal equipment, vintage toys and antique instruments. Going back to a '4-track' style approach, we limited ourselves to essential, acoustic accompaniment, played by us, and select percussion, toys from our old suitcases dating back to the "La Maison" days.
Unlike our more psychedelic/electronic explorations of the last two records, our latest songs have a dusty southern feel with old-timey poetry. We ended up in Argentina where we mixed the record with engineer Nicolas Kalwill with whom we've worked on two previous records. The spirit of Buenos Aires added to our already teen-romance-nostalgic-mood where we spontaneously shot a music video casting over 30 local girls."
In their twelve years as CocoRosie, the sisters have released six albums: Heartache City (2015), Tales of A Grass Widow (2013), Grey Oceans (2010), The Adventures of Ghosthorse and Stillborn (2007), Noah's Ark (2005), and their first album, La Maison de Mon Reve(2004) -- each one inspiring controversy and debate with equal amounts of praise; such is their fearlessness and willingness to take risks with their art. This strong creative vision runs through every aspect of their work - from videos to live performance utilizing theatrical costumes and make-up which they create alongside each new body of songs.
