The Bronx native producer and rapper Chazmere gives the audience a feel of the vibes his music radiates in the music video for “Something You Can Have,” now streaming on Stereogum. The video incorporates smooth lyrics and complimentary instruments to create an inviting scene that urges the audience to allow themselves to be inspired.  Chazmere immerses his listeners not only in this video and song, but with his self-titled album, released June 10.

“Something You Can Have” starts off by following people in the streets of New York City, inviting viewers on their journey. Switching to an apartment where people, including Chaz’s own father, are building a table, practicing yoga, painting, drawing, and singing, art is shown in every form. People are doing what they love, pursuing their passions. “I profit from my passion, I’m living in my dreams,” recites hazmere.

With an undoubted amount of compassion, incomparable to those who haven’t been exposed first-hand to the life on the streets of New York City, Chazmere’s flow can be coined nothing short of steadfast and assertive. His just-released self-produced album, Chazmere, is a result of sharpening his creative process; looking for and finding the right producer, songwriter and recording artist to bring his work to life.

While evolving in the Bronx, Chaz Van Queen was exposed to and influenced by the music of Sly Stone, Parliament Funkadelic, Stevie Wonder, Slick Rick, and Luther Vandross at an early age and cites DMX’s “How’s It Going Down” video as hugely influential in developing what he describes as the “establishment” of a “refined experience.” Chaz released his first compilation album with growing artist collective Colours of the Culture. Released under Talib Kweli’s Javotti Media imprint, ROYGBIV: What A Colorful World was premiered by renowned music blogger John Gotty via UPROXX. Colours also includes NIKO IS, STYLES P, and Talib Kweli among others.

While several artists struggle to originate a sense of who they are, Chazmere is emerging energized and forceful. When he isn’t creating his own music, Chaz Van Queen is serving the music community by teaching with his organization Building Beats. Chaz came from a world of soul and funk and grew up with hip-hop, embodying music and culture from all over the world. Watch one of the many products of his creativity, “Something You Can Have,” via Stereogum now. The self-released, self-titled album from Chazmere is available now, along with an exclusive NPR Weekend Edition interview explaining the album and its inspirations.
