Elektra/Atlantic recording artists Kaleo today released their international debut album, “A/B,” which is now available everywhere for sale and streaming.
Primarily recorded in Nashville alongside producer Jacquire King (Kings of Leon, James Bay), with additional contributions from Mike Crossey, Arnar Guðjónsson and the band, “A/B” includes the multi-format singles, “Way Down We Go,” “No Good,” and “All The Pretty Girls.”
Kaleo commemorated the arrival of “A/B” with a signing at Hollywood’s venerable Amoeba Music last night, to be followed this evening with a sold-out release day show at Los Angeles’s El Rey Theatre. On Monday, Kaleo will rock NBC’s Late Night with Seth Meyers (check local listings). The band will also film an episode of public television’s Front & Center, on Tuesday, June 14th at New York City’s Iridium.
Since its release at midnight, “A/B” has made an impressive showing at iTunes. Around the world the album reached the top 10 in 16 countries; 12 of which saw the album reach top 3, including Canada (where it hit #1), the UK and the US, where it reached the top spot on the Alternative chart also.
“Way Down We Go,” continues its rise at Alternative radio, where it is currently #7 at the format, having already lit up the top 10 at Triple A outlets nationwide. Now ascending the top 50 on the Shazam US Top 100, the track has surpassed 16 million streams on Spotify.
“Way Down We Go” has also made waves around the world, reaching #3 on the UK’s overall Shazam chart, along with #4 in Ireland, #7 in Greece, #11 in South Africa, and #15 in Canada, where the song hit #3 and #4 on the Modern Rock and Alternative radio charts, respectively.
In addition, the single has been featured on a number of soundtracks, trailers, and promotions for Netflix’s Orange Is The New Black, Fox’s Empire, USA Network’s Suits, NBC’s Blindspot, EA Sports’ smash FIFA 16 video game, and the UK’s No7 Skin Care, among others. The band recently premiered an official companion video for “Way Down We Go,” streaming at Kaleo’s official YouTube channel.
“No Good,” is also shaping up as a popular favorite, now climbing the top 20 at Active Rock outlets across the US and the top 15 on the chart in Canada. The track’s official companion video – by Hörður Freyr Brynjarsson – premiered last week via the band’s official Kaleo Music YouTube channel. Hailed as a “gritty, Jack White–esque blues-rock anthem” by Rolling Stone, “No Good” was first featured on “VINYL: MUSIC FROM THE HBO® ORIGINAL SERIES – VOLUME 1,” Atlantic Records’ first soundtrack companion to the blockbuster HBO® series.
Recently named by Rolling Stone as one of “10 New Artists You Need To Know,” Kaleo made their late night TV debut earlier this year with an incendiary live performance of “Way Down We Go” on TBS’ Conan.
Kaleo will spend the summer on the road, performing a festivals and radio shows across North America, including Dover, DE’s Firefly Music Festival (June 17th), Detroit, MI’s MO POP Festival (July 24th), Montreal’s Osheaga Music & Arts Festival (July 29th), Pemberton, BC’s Pemberton Music Festival (July 15th), and Franklin, TN’s Pilgrimage Music Festival (September 24th).
