July 8th, 2016 — (Los Angeles, CA) — 2-time Grammy-nominated singer-songwriter Mary Lambert releases a brand-new single, “Hang Out With You,” today via iTunes, Apple Music, Google Play, and Spotify, while a video for the track is now streaming at VEVO. This is the Seattle native’s first new single since the gold-certified “Secrets,” which appeared on her debut album Heart On My Sleeve. Lambert wrote the buoyant love song with her girlfriend, indie songwriter Michelle Chamuel, runner-up from Season 4 of NBC's The Voice, who also engineered and produced it. "Michelle and I wrote the song because I was getting pressure from my team to write a 'hit'. I looked at her and yelled, "I don't want to write a song, I just want to hang out with you!"

The video for “Hang Out With You” features Lambert hanging out around Seattle with her golden retriever, co-star Lana (her sister’s dog). Mary reached out to director, Zoe Rain, and said, “Okay, I got this idea: Lesbians, Dogs. Crop Tops.” “Zoe responded with, ‘Dude, the Internet is going to love you,’” Lambert says with a laugh. Wanting to incorporate rescue animals into the video, Lambert contacted 'The Shelter Pet Project' and reached out to friends that worked at the local shelters, and as a result, most of the dogs featured in the music video were rescues. “One thing I've learned from this project is to repeatedly check in with myself when I am making art.

Rather than ask myself, ‘Is this cool?’ I ask myself, ‘Am I having fun? Do the people I love smile when they see this?’ Every time I do that, I’m able to step back, re-evaluate, and make sure that what I’m creating is genuine, without a barometer of ‘coolness.’ “Hang Out With You,” which is included in Spotify’s specially curated New Music Friday playlist today, is the first track to be released from Lambert’s upcoming second album. Lambert will serve as executive producer of the album, which will be released later this year.

Lambert is also making waves in the fashion world as one of the faces of JCPenney’s latest ad campaign for its first-ever plus-size brand, Boutique+, created for the fashion-conscious millennial shopper. Lambert appears in a video, entitled Here I Am, on the retailer’s YouTube channel, alongside blogger/designer Gabi Fresh, yogi Valerie Sagun, author Jes Baker, and fashion designer Ashley Nell Tipton. Watch it HERE. Boutique+ is available in 500 stores across the country and at jcp.com.

Lambert was also selected to be a Centennial Ambassador for the National Park Service. She will help reach the next generation of park visitors, supporters, and advocates by participating in the Find Your Park movement.

Don’t miss Lambert performing at the Fashion Meets Music Festival on September 3rd and 4th in Columbus, Ohio. Also on the bill are Passion Pit, Matt and Kim, DJ Khaled, BØRNS, and more.
