Ted Nugent - the name elicits several emotions, but if you are a rocker at heart, there is only one - it is an emotion that makes you pump your fist in the air... head bang... play air guitar... you get the idea.  As the moment Uncle Ted was to take the stage at the packed to capacity Lexington Village Theatre on a crazy Sunday evening, you could feel the electricity in the air as fans that traveled far and wide to the "first resort north" on the shores of Lake Huron anticipated getting their fill of rock and roll.  From the minute Ted and his band hit the stage, he made it quite clear - he was here to rock and roll.  He quickly dedicated the show to law enforcement and the military, which is something he has done for years (and is a very vocal supporter of both).  Not one to shy away from his dedication the military, he made more references, calling out the branches one by one as the show started to ramp up.  He made his way through an extended jam of "The Star Spangled Banner" before tearing into songs from his extensive catalog.  After proclaiming several time that he "loved this shit", Nugent made no bones about his place in rock and roll and his roots as a Michigander.  He tipped his hat several times to Motown and funk as he played hits old and new like "Free For All" and "Snakeskin Cowboys."  Every song seemed to take on a life of its own from the first note to the last, with extended jams and solos that accentuate the strength of the original, instead of creating a lull in the show.  There is no denying the man knows his way around a guitar, as he filled the sound system and venue with solos and riffs that tear through the heart of rock and rollers everywhere.  A lot of Ted's hits were played with gusto during tonight's sold out show, with "Cat Scratch Fever" and "Stranglehold" whipping the crowd into a frenzy near the end of the show, truly demonstrating Ted's ability to control the ebb and flow of his show, regardless of the size of the venue.  With another nearly sold out show on the agenda on August 28th at the same venue, I can't help but wonder what musical surprises await another Lexington crowd... and I for one am so glad I will be there to find out!!!
