Hailing from Turku, Finland, Jaakko Aukusti is currently recording his debut album with former Rubik frontman and art pop wizard Artturi Taira. Having recorded a debut EP Volcano in 2015, Jaakko Aukusti has already been featured on Finnish National Broadcasting Company’s radio station YleX and IndieShuffle for his single “Shadow Boxer”. His bright, colorful sound is a recurring theme throughout his music, and “Oasis” is a quintessential example. Jaakko Aukusti explains, “I tried to compose the song to have this kind of feeling of being in a hurry and not being able to stand still at all, just generally climbing up the walls with excitement.” It is a song about general change, about taking the first step into one’s next phase in life, however big or small it may be.

Jaakko Aukusti’s previous single “Himalaya” also includes his classic pop sound and falsetto vocals and has been featured by The Line of Best Fit and Clash Magazine. Working with an 8-piece band, his sound almost always elicits memories of a warm, summer night. “Oasis” is just the beginning of much more exciting music to come. Stay tuned!
