So much more than a rock festival at sea, the immersive MOODY BLUES CRUISE 2018 is poised to be the best in their five-year history. The January 2-7, 2018 trek will feature the flagship MOODY BLUES plus ALAN PARSONS LIVE PROJECT, THE ORCHESTRA, LITTLE RIVER BAND, DAVE MASON, JEFFERSON STARSHIP, AMBROSIA, RICHIE FURAY, STRAWBS, CARAVAN, LIGHTHOUSE, IDES OF MARCH, SHAWN PHILLIPS, MIKE DAWES, RANDY HANSEN, MELLOW YELLOW and special guests YOUNG DUBLINERS, with more acts to be announced. The 2018 excursion dubbed Sur la Mer goes on sale today (8/23) at 12 Noon ET/9am PT at MoodiesCruise.com.

Sailing out of Miami on Celebrity Cruises' Celebrity Eclipse--one of the finest sea vessels in the cruising industry--the voyage will feature stops in George Town, Grand Cayman and Cozumel, Mexico. Over the five nights at sea, music fans will catch sets from their favorite acts, intimate showcases, Q&As and meet-and-greet events. For sea-goers wanting to start 2018 off in Moody Blues style, there will be a special New Year's Eve concert and party in beautiful Miami, as well as New Year's Day football-watching and music party, complimentary for all cruisers.

Once music fans board the ship on January 2, they'll be treated to an unlimited complimentary buffet, free access to the ships state-of-the-art fitness center, pools, Jacuzzi's, deck chairs, casino and nightclubs. Various payment plans and VIP packages are available, but several options have sold-out in the pre-sale, which was offered to returning Moodies cruisers. Double-occupancy cabins currently available, start at $1,599, with children 11 and under at the time of sailing free, when sharing a cabin with 2 full fare paying adults. Government fees, taxes, and gratuities are mandatory for all passengers regardless of age.

The Moody Blues formed in 1964 and have sold over 70 million records and influenced countless rock and prog music artists. Of the cruises, Moody Blues frontman JUSTIN HAYWARD says, "It's such a great opportunity to have all the fans together. I think the cruises are probably more about the people who love the Moody's music getting together; I think we're kind of incidental to it. I'm looking forward to it; it's always fun. And it's good to be with other artists. So much these days we're the only artists on a bill; you never get to meet other people, but on the cruises you do. And there's some really great people this year that I'm really looking forward to seeing again."

In a review of this year's cruise, Goldmine Magazine's Lee Zimmerman said, "...every note, every verse, every chord, lost or otherwise, resonated with cosmic meaning. That devotion, that constant tug of memory and meaning, was clearly present throughout the four-day journey, resonating in each concert and every encounter."  He added, "The Moodies' storytelling session was full of rare insights and anecdotes, and when the crowd was invited, a couple of dozen at a time, to snake their way onstage for group photos, the opportunity to get up close and personal was a moment to relish indeed."  In conclusion, he said, "Any opportunity to celebrate one's musical heroes is an excursion worth taking.  Appreciation is always best served when it can be done in the present, and not as a sad reflection on the past. The Moodies are already looking forward to reconvening on the sea next year, and fans would be well advised to make their plans to join them."
