You just never know what you get when someone hands you a disc and tells you they are in a band and would appreciate a review.  In the case of the EP from The Killing Floor, I got a 4-track slice of goodness that has been on constant rotation since I first spun the disc.  This disc marries US and UK rockers and the results are awesome.  Disc opener "Corruption Capital" smacks of Muse when the intro kicks in full, but that goes away and I find this very listenable and full of killer hooks and smooth riffs that add depth to the song, especially when the chorus and bridge hit.  "Backs Against The Wall" brings a mellower sound than the opening track provided, but this song is as solid as anything on this EP.  The vocals are catchy and enhanced with layered background vocals at the chorus.  A pop-rock-punk feel inhabits the song and carries over to the next song.  "Catalina" opens with a great riff, but the real star of this track is the killer rhythm section that anchors the tracks with heavy handed drumming that packs a punch while the pounding bass keeps the tempo in check.  "High" has a cool punk rock vibe to it that made me dig out my Ginger and The Wildhearts albums.  There is something about the chorus that grabbed me and wouldn't let go.  This collection is a cool view at the band and their abilities without pigeonholing them into one sound or genre.  They are currently raising funds through a Pledge campaign for a full-length disc and I for one cannot wait to see what they can do with a whole disc full of rockers.
