Over the summer, Biffy Clyro performed headline sets at the Reading and Leeds festivals in the UK. Released by Warner Bros. Records/14th Floor Recordings in July, Ellipsis went straight to number one in the UK album chart and was also number one in Switzerland, Germany and Ireland.  It remained in the U.K. Top 40 for 11 weeks before claiming the top spot on the album chart, making it Biffy Clyro's second No. 1 album after 2013's Opposites. Magnet magazine called Ellipsis, "blistering hard melodic rock with a touch of '90s alternative and a quick taste of sweet-tart pop," while LoudWire called it, "the jumping off point for even more of an evolution."
