From Indian Lakes are thrilled to share the music video for “Blank Tapes”, from the recently released Everything Feels Better Now (Triple Crown Records). The fourth full-length album from frontman/songwriter Joey Vannucchi has been praised for the “rawness of its emotions” by Consequence of Sound, while NPR Music were fond of the album’s “moody indie-rock songs that look to the terse internal monologues of Now, Now and the atmospheric pop of Mew.” From Indian Lakes have also announced spring North American tour dates with Bad Suns that see Vannucchi and band criss crossing the country throughout the month of March after kicking things off in Salt Lake City on February 28th. Upcoming tour dates below.

Directed by Joshua Halling, the music video for “Blank Tapes” portrays two women living through both the ecstasy and the agony a relationship can engender. But the video is an allegory for more than the ups and downs of young love. “I wanted to create an isolated world,” says Halling, “everyone has their own ‘Sarah.’ They find themselves in this euphoric state with the idea of either someone, something, or themselves. We become intoxicated with this image of how we wish things could be, and use it as a scapegoat to hide away from our own confusion, frustrations and denial.”

The brainchild of songwriter and multi-instrumentalist Joey Vannucchi, From Indian Lakes takes its name from Indian Lakes, CA, a small community outside of Yosemite National Park near where Vannucchi grew up on 40 acres of land with no electricity aside from a sparely used generator.

Vannucchi recorded the skeletons of the tracks for Everything Feels Better Now in the basement of a coffee shop that he rented each month for cheap. From there he traveled to Fairfax Recordings in Los Angeles, aka Sound City Studios, where he worked with producer Kevin Augunas (Delta Spirit, Cold War Kids) and engineer Gavin Paddock on slowly stripping away whatever tracks needed to be replaced from the basement and home studio recordings on the songs.
